News: [ Pull limit (default): ] it means -100 that only the older 100 of the new articles per on-line session is gotten by the new server. [ ] it means 100 that the newer 100 of the new articles and [ 0 ] that * all are loaded * new article. This adjustment leaves itself for each newsgroup still spezifieren. (under file/configuration/newsgroups/settings)

[ Pull limits (empty group): ] the number of articles which can be loaded indicates 100 in again subscribed newsgroup.

Mails: [ Leave Mails on server ] means that your Mails on the POP account of your Mail Providers not are deleted. In the start time can be of advantage this. Later you should deactivate the CHECK box, so that your p.o. box overflows not sometime and assumes no more Mails.

[ Ignore already loaded mails ] means that hamster does not load Mails already downloaded again from the server, if the POP server supports UIDL. This function brings sense only if the CHECK box which is situated over it is activated.

Logfile/Messages: With each start of the hamster a log file is created, which is then stored under %Hamsterpfad%\Logs\*.log.

[ session log file to keep: ] it means 14 that the last 14 log files are stored.

[ log file LINES to view: ] the number of lines indicates 500, which in the window of the hamster to be seen to have to be supposed.

Under [ save ] and [ view ] you can adjust, which is to be logged or displayed. For problems it empfielt itself to activate [ debug ] under [ save ]. The log files become then however rather large. Caution forwards [ Full ], it with some of crashes is reported, since within a short time very many data are written in the log, which some computers not to bear.

Hamster: [ start as Icon ] means, if it activates that hamster is to be seen when starting only as Icon in the Systray. If the CHECK box is deactivated, hamster starts first as Icon and the hamster window on the Desktop is to be seen following.

[ Minimize on CLOSE ] ensures for the fact that hamster is minimized only in the Systray, so that one the hamster by one do not click on the cross on the top right closes by mistake. To terminate hamster leaves itself ile/e x it by f.

Lokale Servereigenschaften
New server (NNTP) [ [ X ] autostart ] means that the local new server is along-started with the start of the hamster. The port number [ 119 ] behind it is the standard port for new servers with NNTP log and should only by experienced users be modified.

[ gene rate Message ID ] arranges the hamster to generate an Message ID for News if the newsreader set still none. For the generation that is used far FQDN set down.

[ Allow post office with unknown groups ] permits, if with a cross, CROSS posts into partial unknown groups, which were not subscribed by the hamster. (max. 5 with set Followup to)

[ Days to keep DATA ] determines, how much days the respective data are to be kept. Data are deleted however only if " Purge " is executed.

Under file/configuration/newsgroup/settings you can stop newsgroup for each one period for article, which deviates from the default value.

Mailserver (POP3) [ [ X ] autostart ] means that the local Mailserver is along-started with the start of the hamster. The port number [ 110 ] behind it is the standard port for Mailsserver with POP3-Protokoll and should only by experienced users be modified.
Mailserver (smtp) [ [ X ] autostart ] means that the local Mailserver is along-started with the start of the hamster. The port number [ 25 ] behind it is the standard port for Mailsserver with SMTP log and should only by experienced users be modified.

[ gene rate Message ID ] causes also here the same as with News. Outlook express does not use however your computer name as FQDN, hamsters overwrites the MID under normal conditions. Exception: in hamster.ini there is a possibility for it. Tip: Point 4. of the Microsoft Internet Newsclient FAQ helps when setting a " correct " FQDN with Mail.

[ smtp after POP3 ] causes, if it activates that at hamsters transmit the Mail is only possible, if beforehand Mails with password query were queried with the POP3-Postfach.

Local Domains [ FQDN for Message ID ] here can be entered the FQDN for generating Message ID, if hamster is to produce the Message ID. But note: Stretcher here not " something "! Read please in addition http://www.qad.org/faq/faq-messageid.html the Message ID FAQ(currently unavailable) if you liked to avoid annoyance and use also only FQDN, which really belongs to you!

[ local ones Mail delivery ] here can be entered further Domain parts. Mails, whose right section (behind @) corresponds by Regular of express ion with Domains entered here, are not outward passed on. Thus now internal Mailverkehr can be regulated. See also on the page Accounts
